Philip Goforth

President

Philip is a dynamically trained real estate and construction professional, with over 17 years of experience.  Philip has an extensive background in the commercial real estate and construction industry, and has managed a significant staff to the successful completion of over one hundred thirty million dollars’ worth of projects.  Philip benefits from a degree in Economics and Finance from Kansas State University.  He began his management and construction education in the field and worked his way up the lines. His approach to the real estate development and acquisition process is both aggressive and innovative, but based on a solid foundation of time-proven principles. Philip utilizes several elite operating systems to help maintain control over development schedules, budgets, and overall quality of projects and properties.   He is hands on from the project feasibility phase to monitoring of every dollar that passes through the project.  Philip also has considerable training and experience in human resources, hiring, interviewing, and positioning other professionals where they can be best utilized in an operation.  Philip has been involved at various levels of development for hotels, shopping centers, and apartment developments.

In addition to Philip’s development and construction experience, he also was the co-owner of a boutique financial service business for several years.  While serving in this capacity Philip was exposed to multiple alternative investment classes (specifically real estate offerings), and the workings of the independent broker-dealer community.  While he was not licensed to sell securities, and did not sell any directly, he gained tremendous experience from the observation, vetting, and due diligence of these offerings.

Philip’s memberships include Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and St. Andrew’s Apostle Parish.

Omid Shahbazian

Executive Vice President

Omid is a principal and key member at Genesis Companies and serves in a management capacity as vice president. Omid is a development and construction management professional with over 15 years’ experience in various types of construction and real estate development.

Omid is a leader, with a record of impactful results within the commercial construction industry. A pragmatic
planner focused on customer consideration, while constantly elevating the company’s presence in any community
we build in.

At Genesis, Omid is responsible for the overall project direction and execution of mixed-used apartment complexes,
hotel/hospitality and other commercial construction – ensuring consistency with agency, strategy, and commitment.
Omid takes pride in quality control and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle.

Omid has constructed various high-rise concrete structures internationally and brings that expertise and focus to
every structure built at Genesis. Omid has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in
Construction Engineering & Management from the University of Kansas.

Tim Gadd

CFO

Tim graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia with his BS in Business Administration, majoring in Finance and Banking. Rather than pursue a career as a stockbroker or banker, and armed with his CPA credential, Tim’s goal was to complement his natural business savvy with a strong foundation in Accounting. He began his career in auditing at a large national public accounting firm. After several years in public accounting and having been promoted to Audit Manager, he accepted a Controller position in Commercial Real Estate.

After years of Controller experience and a long stint as the Director of Compliance for a publicly traded Software and IT Company, Tim was brought in to be the CFO of Genesis Companies. He oversees all aspects of the Organization’s finances, as well as being actively involved in analyzing prospective real estate transactions.

Today, Tim resides with his wife and son in Parkville, MO. He enjoys visiting his daughter who attends the University of Missouri, Columbia as well as watching his son compete in high school athletics.

Paul Bersbach

General Superintendent

Paul is one of the key members at Genesis Companies and serves in a management capacity as general superintendent.

Paul is the consummate veteran of the hotel construction industry with 37 hotels on his resume, from limited to full
service. At Genesis, Paul is responsible for overseeing the hotel construction schedules, organizing manpower, and
managing subcontractor performance.

Paul is also involved in the buyout phase of each project, contributing his vast experience to each scope of work,
subcontract agreement and purchase order. Paul is highly familiar with each brand’s standards and provides the necessary oversight to ensure Genesis is in constant cooperation with every client’s choice of flag.

Paul has worked with the Goforth family for over a decade and takes immense pride in every project he touches.

Bryan Drummond

Field Operations

Bryan has been perfecting his construction skills for 24 years. Now a seasoned veteran, and literal expert in anything a building could need, Bryan manages our daily field operations, managing subcontractors, suppliers, and working with the design teams to execute the construction plan. Bryan is a vital part of our organization and the type of hard working dedicated professional we strive to staff our firm with.

Tim Drummond

Project Manager

Tim is responsible for project management including controlling budgets, negotiating subcontracts, and providing day-to-day communication with the project team to ensure jobs remain on schedule and within budget. A team player, Tim holds an excellent track record of strong working relationships with owners, architects, and engineers, resulting in successful construction experiences.

Tim has over 6 years’ experience overseeing all phases of multi-million-dollar construction projects, including infrastructure, restaurant, hospitality, and retail projects. Other highlights of his work include extensive HVAC improvements, site improvements, utility relocations, and tenant improvement projects of both occupied and unoccupied spaces.

Outside of work Tim enjoys being outdoors and traveling with his wife. He can find peace and happiness on either the beach or snow-capped mountains.

Jared Caldwell

Superintendent

Building upon a successful career of over 30 years in the construction industry, Jared offers a wealth of understanding to his role as Superintendent. Jared is responsible for overseeing and managing the safety and operations of the job site, as well as the timeliness of completion, and the quality of the completed project. He is adept at building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, owners, architects, and trade contractors, resulting in highly collaborative and effective teams with proven results.

Jared is especially adept in the areas of concrete and site excavating. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Mario Rangle

Controller

With 20 plus years of accounting experience, Mario manages the daily needs of our construction accounting. From invoice entry and bill pay, to financial statements and inner face with our insurance and bonding company, he oversees each aspect of keeping every dollar accounted for.

Andrea Irons

Project Administrator

From historic tax credits and managing insurance programs, to writing subcontracts and processing submittals, Andrea can do it all. A multi-talented member that touches numerous aspects of every Genesis entity. Andrea is a dedicated team player and helps keep everyone on track and organized.

Gary Goforth

Executive Advisor

With over 40 years of industry experience, Gary offers his advice, guidance, and wisdom to help influence the company in a constant positive direction.  For more than 4 decades Gary has built, owned, developed, and consulted hundreds of commercial real estate projects throughout the United States.  His commitment to hard work, accurate execution, and concern for each customer is deeply embedded into the fiber of each Genesis entity.
